Hardcore gratitude

We love to control our lives. We were brought up in society which is driven by competition, by excelling in everything , by having more and more and by running faster and faster forward in order to catch up. But what do we want or need to catch up with? More things, degrees, money?  Always competing, judging others, judging ourselves, comparing ourselves to others, trying to make perfect life, trying to be perfect, trying, trying  and never get there, as perfection does not exist.

With this approach to life you will never be satisfied. It will be always something else to get, something else to be and somebody else to be, something we think is better then what we have already got. Nothing makes us happy so we try new things to find the way to happiness. If we cannot be satisfied with what we already have, how are we ever be satisfied with things which we don’t have. We have to learn to appreciate, to be grateful for what we have first, otherwise we will never find happiness. There will be always something else to get, someone else to be.

Let’s just stop and breathe for a minute and look around. Just stop and enjoy our lives. See the nature, play with your children and go for the walk and breathe

Try different approach. Instead of wanting new things try to start appreciating what you already have.  Everyday before you get up think about 10 things you are grateful for in your life and try to do it for 30 days in a row. Don’t repeat the things, everyday you have to come up with something new 🙂  Try to be creative and think about some hardcore gratitude. For example: Thank you universe that my boyfriend destroyed my favorite dress.:), thank you that my dog throw up on my new carpet.

You will start seeing things differently…. And your life will look much better. Let yourself loose, let go control and just enjoy what the universe can bring you.

This exercise is from the book written by Pam Grout “Thank and Grow Rich”. It does work. Try it and let me know your thoughts.
